Litter Prevention Program
The City of Jackson operates litter control program removing debris to maintain right-of-ways Monday through Friday. Please don't litter and report those who do. To report litter on City of Jackson roads contact: 311 or call 601-960-0000. Items that are located in the road and a hazard to drivers please report immediately.
To report litter on state highways, intersections and frontage roads, contact MDOT at 601-359-7111.
Bulk Item Program
Residents can place two bulk items at your curbside every second collection day. These items include furniture, mattresses, box springs, microwaves, radios, televisions, sofas, stoves, limbs, and bagged leaves.
Waste Tire Collection Program
Residents can dispose of tires at the City of Jackson Rubbish Landfill, 6810 I-55 S. Frontage Road, Byram, MS for the following amounts:
Waste Disposal Fees:
- $1.00 per car/truck tire
- $3.00 per commercial tire
- $5.00 per tractor tire, farm tire, and skid steer tire
Residents can call the Solid Waste Division at 601-960-1193 or 601-960-0000 to schedule a pick up of a maximum of 5 tires for pickup on Wednesday. Calls must be made by Tuesday, before 3:00 p.m. in order for tires to be picked up on Wednesday. There will be a limit of two (2) pick ups per year at any resident after which time, residents will be required to take tires to the City of Jackson Byram Landfill for disposal and pay the following fees listed above. Residents may also take tires to MS Tire Recycling located at 2845 Meter Road, Jackson, MS where there will be a fee as well.
Appliance Collection and Recycling Program
Hazardous Waste Collection Program
Residents can drop off household hazardous products at the Environmental Service Center, 1570 University Blvd, Jackson, MS 39204. This is a permanent site that serves as a safe alternative to disposing these chemicals in our drains or at landfills.
Community Cleanups Program
Every first Saturday in March, the Solid Waste Division along with Keep Jackson Beautiful participates in the nation's largest organized cleanup. Neighborhood organizations, schools, businesses and other groups can go to community cleanup page to receive information on how to organize a cleanup in their area from March 1 to November 1 annually.
