Patrol Services Bureau
The Jackson Police Department’s Patrol Operations Division consists of 4 police precincts, Traffic Unit, D.A.R.T. Unit (Direct Action Response Team), School Resource Officers, D.U.I. Unit, Parking Enforcement, Mounted Patrol, and School Crossing.
The Crime Prevention unit serves the public by providing timely crime prevention and safety educational information. The unit also works to distinguish problems within critical areas, as well as works within the community to solve these problems. The goal is to deter crime and enhance the quality of life in our city by educating the public on crime issues and their prevention.

The Special Operations is comprised of the Traffic Unit, D.U.I. Unit, D.A.R.T. Unit, Mounted Patrol, Parking & Downtown Patrol, Reserve Officers and School Crossing Guards.
Traffic Unit
The Traffic Division is tasked with the responsibility of enforcing all Federal, State and Local laws that pertain to the operation of motor vehicles on the City streets, Highways and Interstates within the City limits of Jackson, Mississippi. It is the primary mission and duty of the Traffic Division to enhance and maintain the safety of all motorist who travel within the City of Jackson.
D.A.R.T.
The D.A.R.T. Unit consists of uniformed patrol officers assigned to target high crime areas of the city and are also assigned to handle special events across the city.
Internal Affairs Unit

The Internal Affairs (IAD) falls directly under the command of the Chief of Police (or designee). Personnel of this unit operates and carries out their duties directly under the authority of the Chief of Police. IAD is responsible for conducting investigations relating to complaints and/or allegations of a sworn or civilian employee, whether on or off duty. Internal Affairs serves as a “fact-finding” unit.
