Division Fire Chief - Community Relations and Fire Safety Education Division

Dwight McKinney Jr. is currently the Division Fire Chief of Community Relations and Fire Safety Education. Chief McKinney is a native of Jackson, MS where he attended Murrah High School and Jackson State University. In 1999 he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation Administration.

Chief McKinney joined Jackson Fire Department in July of 1999. He believes in hard work, dedication and going above and beyond the call of duty for the citizens of Jackson. He was stationed at Fire Station 16 where he served ten years as a Certified Rescue Diver as well as a Captain.

Chief McKinney has been married to Carolyn McKinney for 21 years. They have two beautiful daughters; their names are Sydney McKinney and Eryn McKinney. Chief McKinney, better known as "The Rock" is a dedicated Kansas City Chiefs fan. (Go Chiefs!)
