About the Commission

The City of Jackson Historic Commission is a nine-member board of volunteer citizens, with various backgrounds in architecture and design fields. Their serve 3-year terms for the purpose of guiding and protecting the City’s historic resources. Commissioners are appointed by the Mayor, subject to confirmation by the City Council, and serve as unpaid volunteer municipal officials. The Commission meets once a month, on the second Wednesday of each month at 12:00 p.m. at 200 South President Street in downtown Jackson. The review process is guided by the Historic Conservation Ordinance and various Historic District Guidelines adopted by the City and based on the U.S. Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation.
