What is PEG

PEG stands for Public, Educational, and Government Access Television. It is a community-driven platform that allows residents, educators, and city leaders to share stories, information, and ideas directly with the public.

PEG programming is local, non-commercial, and focused on public service. It gives the people of Jackson a space to learn, connect, and participate in civic life.

It is a powerful platform designed to:

      •  Keep residents connected through live and recorded City Council meetings, budget hearings, public meetings and important city updates
      • Support education with youth-focused content
      • Highlight the people and stories that make Jackson a vibrant place to live

PEG is Jackson’s digital town square. It is open, informative, and made for the community.

City of Jackson PEG Network – Public Access Guidelines

Rules for Airing on PEG Public Access

The City of Jackson encourages community participation through its PEG Public Access Channel. If you are a resident, organization, or community partner with content to share, we invite you to submit your programming for review. To ensure quality, fairness, and compliance with public standards, the following rules apply to all submissions.

1.Who Can Submit

Public Access programming is open to:

  • City of Jackson residents
  • Jackson-based nonprofits, schools, and civic groups
  • Independent producers or content creators with local relevance
  • Local government agencies and educational institutions

All content must be non-commercial and community-focused.

2.What Content is Accepted

Eligible content includes:

  • Community news and storytelling
  • Arts, culture, and creative projects
  • Educational or informational programs
  • Public forums or community roundtables
  • Local event coverage
  • Historical or cultural features relevant to Jackson

3.Content Standards

To maintain a safe and respectful platform, all programs must adhere to the following:

  • No Commercial Advertising
    Content cannot promote for-profit businesses, products, or services.
  • No Profanity, Obscenity, or Graphic Content 
    Programs must be appropriate for a general audience.
  • No Defamation, Hate Speech, or Threats
    Content must not include discriminatory, abusive, or threatening language or imagery.
  • No Copyright Infringement
    You must own or have permission to use all music, video, graphics, and media included in your submission.
  • No Religious Proselytizing or Political Campaigning
    Faith-based and civic content is welcome, but promotional or campaign content is not permitted on Public Access channels.
  • Time Limit
    Individual programs must be no longer than 60 minutes unless otherwise approved in advance.

PEG staff reserves the right to decline or request edits to any submission that does not
comply with these standards.

Follow these steps to submit your video for consideration on the Public Access Channel:

How to Submit a Program

Step 1:Review Your Content

Ensure your program meets all content standards and is suitable for broadcast.

Step 2:Complete the Submission Form

Fill out the official Public Access Channel – Content Submission Form including:
  • Program title
  • Description of content
  • Length and file format
  • Your contact information
  • Link to your video
  • Confirmation that you own or have permission for all media used

Step 3:Wait for Review

Your content will be reviewed by PEG staff. If approved, you’ll be notified with an air date and time. If edits are needed, you will be contacted with suggestions.

Building the Next Generation of Filmmakers

Film JXN Youth Academy

The Film JXN Youth Academy is where Jackson’s young creatives learn to bring their stories to life. What began as the annual Film JXN Youth Summer Camp has now grown into a year-round Academy, offering students hands-on training in every part of the filmmaking process from script to screen. Through workshops, film challenges, and mentorship from industry professionals, students gain the skills and confidence to produce original short films while developing teamwork, leadership, and creative problem solving. Highlights of the Academy:
      •  Hands-On Training: Direct experience with cameras, editing, and production
      • Creative Storytelling: Guidance on how to turn ideas into powerful films
      • Industry Mentorship: Access to local filmmakers and working professionals
      • Youth Film Challenges: Opportunities to showcase projects to the community
Whether students dream of becoming directors, screenwriters, editors, or producers, the Academy provides a launchpad to explore filmmaking in a supportive, inspiring environment.
