In November and December, the City of Jackson’s Innovation Team brought together residents, city staff, and community partners to reimagine solutions for housing, blight, and neighborhood revitalization. Through a series of hands-on ideation sessions, participants shared their experiences, identified challenges, and helped shape ideas that are now moving into action.
Test updates to lot size, ADUs, duplexes, and multi-unit allowances. Explore pilot zoning areas (ex: Bon Air) and prototype quick fixes that unlock infill housing.
Map the end-to-end permitting experience from resident and developer perspectives, identify delays and unclear steps, then prototype simplified workflows and digital touchpoints.
Test clearer tools — dashboards, updates, surveys, and an updated 311 app — so residents can report issues, track progress, and stay informed through quarterly feedback loops.
Prototype Adopt-a-Block and corridor beautification efforts that focus on block-by-block improvements, reduce visible blight, and pair physical wins with stories of neighborhood progress.
